I have an HMO I noticed that the responsibility for treatment of cancer is 20% out of pocket. Are the pills I am seeing for CLL extremely expensive or will i need to think ahead and obtain another health insurance policy in addition to my HMO? I am taking the oral medication Venclexta. The manufacturer charges $16,000 a month. My prescription plan pays about $13,000. I pay $40.
In addition, When you do an infusion, it is under your medical insurance. I had 8 infusions of gazyva at $20,000 apiece. I paid nothing.
I am extremely grateful for my insurances. I read that cancer treatment is the number one contributor in bankruptcy in older adults. America can do better than that!
Your drs office should have a “navigator” to find grants and programs to join. Some automatically exclude medicare patients.

Thank you Valerie…..I know i am getting ahead of myself here but in addition to the worry of the disease I also am alone and don’t need the financial worries that this CLL can bring on. Thanks for your answer I now know I have to do more research.
I know how you feel about the cost of cancer medication I used good RX it saved me a lot of money then I got another insurance company and it coved it all but the premium was high I hope this helps
