Hi, Leesa. Diagnosed in 2015, and I've been rocking along at 28-29 WBC with good platelets for 4 years. In March, white cells had doubled. I'm set for blood labs in 2 weeks. If the white cells continue their steep and rapid climb, Dr. Chandra will determine what's next. It was that substantial "spike" that started discussion for my treatment. There are seasoned CLL folks in this forum, and like you, I'm learning from all they're willing to share.

My doctor began treating me with Imbruvica because of my massive spleen. It was so large it was pressuring my stomach to where I couldn't eat without causing major discomfort in my lower abdomen, just below my belly button. Amazingly within 3 weeks after beginning Imbruvica my spleen had decreased in size to where I could eat freely. Upon physical exam my doctor could no longer feel my spleen near my stomach and eventually found it up near where it is supposed to be. My appetite is better than ever and I'm slowly regaining some weight. They had to put me on lower than normal dosage strength (140mg Caps) because I suffer with occasional AFIB which began after my bypass surgery in 2008. I take two Caps once a day in the evenings so actually it's 280mg daily. This lower dose regimen may be a blessing in disquise because I'm having no ill side effects from the med. Hopefully things will continue to progress well.
