Hi Carol4, Fighting AML is a constant battle but everyday we have is a blessing. I was diagnosed with these disease in March, 2020 at age 75. I have been on Vidaza IV since that time and doing well so far. At first, I was started on oral Venteclexa which was ramped up from 100mg to 400mg in three days which is standard protocol. On the fourth day I was in the hospital for the next week. Since then it has been Vidaza alone. My oncologist recently reduced my monthly infusions from five days to three days a month so we will see how that goes. I am very grateful to still being alive and doing well. I keep up with he latest developments in treating AML. There are a number of new drugs that are in trials and and getting favorable results so we will see. I am in communication with the good Lord everyday which gives a lot of peace. Blessings to you and our fellow warriors.

A!ways ask if or conscious sedation for the very painful bone marrow biopsy. It makes the procedure pain free. In most cases it is not mentioned. Your insurance should pay for the procedure. When I first started treatment the NP start to do the procedure using lidocaine which only numbs the skin but NOT the bone which is where most of the pain comes from. I stopped the procedure and said that I wanted conscious sedation for it. I have since had the sedation for every biopsy over the past four years and no problem. Please let patients know about the sedation. Blessings,
