Is A Bone Marrow Biopsy Necessary If A Blood Flow Cytometry Test Shows No Results?

A MyLeukemiaTeam Member asked a question 💭
Tyler, TX

My oncologist is still thinks I may have CLL. My lymphocytes have gone down from 10.8 to 7.3 in 1 days. Then they went down to 4.08. My AST went from 188 to 164 in 1 day. Then they went down to 41. My ALT went from 357 to 330 in one day. Then they went down to 136. The oncologist wants to do a bone marrow biopsy because my liver enzymes are still high, even though they are trending down. I did have an enlarged spleen too. I am confused.😭

That is confusing for sure. Maybe express your concern to your oncologist? Also consider a second opinion?

This is the reply I got from my oncologist. Which by the way, I already have an appointment next week with her.

I do not think your medical people know what is happening regarding your health. I take medication and my white blood cell (WBC) count is 7,100. I do not know if I have any organ damage since this was never checked except for the special touch & feel to check for something under the ribs? I think when medical people fail to respond with simple answers they are saying they do not know? These are cancer doctors and they know a little about each cancer so if you have a leukemia blood doctor then you may have someone who may provide a valid answer.
