Basket cells, also known as smudge cells, are white blood cells (WBCs) that
appear distorted on a blood smear. They are often seen in chronic
lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and other conditions.
What they look like

- Smudge cells appear as a smudge or basket on a blood smear.

- They are remnants of leukocytes that lack cytoplasm.
- They have disrupted nuclei and appear as amorphous smears of
chromatin.

What causes them

- Smudge cells are created when fragile cells are smashed against the
glass slide during blood film preparation.
- They can also be seen in degenerating samples.

What conditions are they associated with?

- Smudge cells are most often associated with CLL.
- They can also be seen in other conditions, including:

- Viral infections
- B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia
- Burkitt leukemia
- Follicular lymphoma
- Hairy cell leukemia
- Lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma

Yes it is The same Milkey3..But they have Both on my Blood work so trying disect my Blood lol They do not explain anything to me..
Hopefully my new leukemia Doctor will on Friday
