I am trying and I still can't understand what test a doctor does to find what type you have. Like what name will test show up as in result.

I have a my chart app that list test and test results. I can't figure out if she did the right kind to type the cancer yet.

Betty, the MyLeukemiaTeam rep gave you great advice. Look at your test results make a copy and take the printout to your next appointment and as for an explanation. Or in the meantime, if you don't mind sharing the information: 1) what tests were done 2) what were the results. I'm sure some of the team members can give you a laymen's explanation.

- Complete Blood Count (CBC) - This basic blood test measures different blood cell levels
- Blood Chemistry Tests - Checks for specific molecules in your blood
- Bone Marrow Biopsy/Aspiration - Examines cells from inside your bones To specifically identify the Show Full Answer

- FISH (Fluorescence in Situ Hybridization) - Identifies genetic changes in blood cancer cells
- Immunophenotyping - Shows specific characteristics of leukemia cells
- Karyotype Testing - Creates a map of chromosomes in cancer cells
- Cytogenetic Testing - Analyzes changes to chromosomes or genes

If you're unsure which tests were done, bring your test results to your next appointment and ask your doctor to explain which ones determine your specific type of leukemia.

My oncologist also done bone marrow test last year and told me the same that cell is abnormal in it and this year he want to give me brukinsap but I am ok can body tell who took it is it good but I come know it has too much side effects as I am ok and no problem for me to live I want to avoid it pl advise me. Thanks
