Members came together to share their experiences with CT scans for monitoring lymph nodes related to CLL, with most agreeing the procedure is straightforward and worth doing. Several members described their scans as easy and painless, advising others to simply relax, hold their breath when asked, and think positive thoughts, while those with dye allergies noted they were able to get scans without contrast. A recurring theme was the value of staying proactive, with one member sharing that a routine scan unexpectedly caught a lung cancer early enough for successful surgery.

I had only had blood tests because either I am not ill enough or my medical people have no interest? I know the local hospital has the equipment for doing this scan. I had also read that people know what DNA problem they have which caused their leukemia? I think my medical people are learning since they never had discussed anything helpful to me in the past? I have learned about my illness and how medicines work to control the bad cells. This week I learned the Nobel Prize in Medicine will be awarded to people who worked to discover new stuff about how the immune system works. Our big problem is the immune system so this may help us in the future? I think the more we learn the better we are able to understand our health and how to work to fix our problem. Ya Deb.... during the later stages of my CLL, I've had about four CT scans. One was for exploratory purposes, trying why my blood labs were so critical. Another was to specifically examine my lungs, and another was specifically to check my lymph nodes and my spleen. Generally the CT scan for your lymph nodes is to measure them as a reference point. How big were they now, and then checking them later to see how much larger they have gotten over a period of time. The fourth one was again an overall scan of my body, looking for any strange thing. (good thing they didn't look in my head... lots of strange things in there) I knew about the small hernia on my belly button and the large hernia near my sternum, but I did not know I had re-herniated my left and right groin, that I had surgeries for when I turned 20.

CT scans are a walk in the park, like Tom said ... just lay there and relax. They might, but not likely infuse some dye to improve contrast... but I think that's for others procedures.

I've had a couple MRIs and numerous Ultasounds.... never had any problems with the procedures.

Out walking, found some more wood.... you know me... just had to make something.

Ya... no need to worry about the CT scan, it's just your doctor being though... which is a good thing.

Stay tough KID.
