Hi JulieIrvineLauve, How are you? its been a while since we talked. I can't answer your tea question, I see Sloan Kettering uses it as an complimentary to therapy, but not taking chemo. I am a big green tea drinker and there are many brands, but it has to pass my pleasant taste to get it down. Thanks for your hug and I will share with you Dr. says I am in deep remission MDR have been for a few months......but nothing has changed. it was good to hear those words but I am a big supporter of watching for my own BCR-ABLs and sometimes know before my Dr. knows. I am still on the same dosage of Sprycel (now desatinib we will see if there is a generic difference now) 80 mg every other day. Sure I still have a few of those old side effects but I am living my life as normal as possible. When my body says NO I stop. Just went through a knee replacement (last year not stable enough with my labs and fatigue was worse) so I'm now going to the gym every other day and doing life. I don't like the word remission and agree with someone in our CML team, it is under control, for now BCR-ABL says <0.0032 % or below. So for another 2 years, I keep the plan and hope for the best. Now how about you?

Hello Brenda,
I agree about the word "remission". I have used it as my doctor did with me. It surprised me when she said it. I was still hanging on "undetectable"....but I have to say I liked hearing her say "remission". Yes, I knew you were having knee replacement surgery. How are you feeling? How long will it take to heal from that surgery? You sound like the type that won't let too much get you down. Did you have to stop your TKI in preparation for the surgery? I know that Sprycel has the side effect of bleeding. Also, I was wondering if you have the goal of getting off of your TKI as some point. I have read that it's not a bad thing to take breaks occasionally when you've been on for long periods of time as long as you are in MDR. I keep reading that people do get off and get monitored closely during that time. I read another person's post that said that he had reached remission and has been off of his drug for six years. Said that his testing still shows undetectable. Amazing really. Well take care of your knee....it sounds like you are on the mend. Take care and I'll check in later.

For people with leukemia, it's crucial to be cautious about what you consume since you may have a weakened immune system. Before adding any new beverages or supplements to your diet, always consult with your healthcare provider first. If you're looking for healthy beverage options, here are some suggestions that have been mentioned by others:

• Plain water (can be enhanced with fresh fruit)
• Green tea
• Low-sugar sports drinks like G2, Propel, or Vitaminwater Zero
• Probiotic drinks like kefir or kombucha

Remember to avoid or limit sugary drinks and sodas, as many members report feeling better after cutting these out.
