I never had a chemo treatment because of the possible ill affects. I requested medication with possible ill affect which did not happen my first year. The second year I developed a strange cough which did go away once I stopped for a month. Now I have resumed at 50% dose with no ill affects.
Hi Michele, I had no overnight guests and we encouraged people to not come if they weren't healthy (colds/flu) when I was most vulnerable. I was very susceptible very early after diagnosis as my immune system was virtually knocked out. But after my blood values were back to normal we were a bit more laid back. If I feel uncomfortable being around people due to normal fluctuations of cold and flu season I just don't go out much or stay away from crowded areas. I take vaccinations as my Dr. encourages me to do so. I just go with my gut and trust how I feel about each situation. I don't mind sitting with people outside. Talk to your Dr. about your fears and let him help sort what is good for you as he knows your situation best.--jmb
