I think of chemo treatments as being very toxic with bad ill affects. Some treatments require a hospital visit for the treatment because people are made very sick from the drugs. I think the drugs attack both good and bad cells and can cause just as much damage as they can damage bad cells. I would not doubt that chemo treatment or just watch and wait could cause organ damage?

Can immunotherapy cause liver damage or liver failure?

Yes, certain immunotherapy treatments for leukemia can cause liver damage, though it's rare. Besponsa (inotuzumab ozogamicin), a monoclonal antibody used to treat B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), can rarely cause liver damage as a side effect.

While liver damage is possible, it's important to know that most side effects from immunotherapy are typically minor. Common side effects include:

- Fever
- Skin reactions
- Fatigue
- Nausea
- Body aches
- Headaches

However, more serious side effects can occur. Your oncologist will monitor you closely during treatment and watch for any signs of liver problems or other complications.

If you're concerned about liver damage while on immunotherapy, talk with your doctor about what symptoms to watch for and how often they'll check your liver function during treatment.
