In the past I had noticed my injuries like cuts and scratches were totally healed in a few days. Now I notice the area in my skin still going through the healing process which can take a few weeks? I had thought this might be old age but the extreme time for the skin to totally heal is odd to me? I am so glad I am not a bleeder which means when I do have an injury there is no trail of blood to indicate a problem? My wife thinks I am a mutant since I am always being injured without knowing it and my pain indicator is very high so I do not know if I have an injury when it happens?

Healing difficulties are a real concern for people with CLL, and it's not surprising given how the condition affects the body. CLL can weaken the immune system, which plays a key role in how well and how quickly wounds heal.

Calquence (acalabrutinib) is a BTK inhibitor, a type of targeted therapy. While targeted therapies are generally better tolerated than chemotherapy, they can still affect the immune system and may contribute to slower healing or increased infection risk. There are a few things worth watching for with an abdominal incision that's still painful after 7 days:

- Signs of infection — redness, warmth, swelling, or discharge around the wound
- Fever or flu-like symptoms — these can signal something more serious
- Unusual bruising nearby — CLL can reduce platelet counts, which affects clotting and healing

Given that CLL affects immune function and you're on a targeted therapy, it's really important to contact your care team about the ongoing pain. Seven days of continued discomfort after a procedure is worth a conversation with your doctor sooner rather than later — don't wait for your next scheduled visit.

Kerry, I also seem to take longer to heal from injuries. I am still watch and wait with my cll but I still let my doctor know
and he just monitors to make sure they don't get infected.

Hi Kerry. Did they stitch it..give you wound care instructions, etc? Is it red, etc? What you do t want is an infection so it’s best to call the Dr who did it & have them
Look at it ok. I have CLL too. Not taking anything for it. Have been challenged with healing from Mohs surgery. To be expected tho as our immune systems are very compromised & everything takes a lot longer than a healthy person.
