I woke up this morning with breathtaking muscle 'grabs' in my back rib cage area that are taking my breath and not allowing me to sit back in a chair. It is unbelievably painful and quite annoying. I have seen others mention muscle spasms but what I had been dealing with up to this point is more leg cramps etc. This one is a big deal. I don't think I've injured myself in any way so this is quite random. Is this a symptom of the liver and spleen being enlarged? It hurts in the area beneath… read more
Hi Judith,
I share ALL of those back issues you’ve described. I’m am 65 but have had spinal degeneration, arthritis, and trauma since my 30s. Constant pain throughout. Some days not tolerable. I’ve had several surgeries and had disc replacement at L4 and L5.
Before that surgery, I was on a transdermal morphine patch, taking muscle relaxers along with oral opiates just to get through the day and keep working. Ultimately, I was evaluated for a spinal stimulator and had the procedure to implant one. Best thing I ever did.
It helps to control my pain so I can still be somewhat active as I was before all the pain. No more opiates.
It may be something for you to talk to your pain management team about.
Then you can focus on living again and get to the task of beating that pesky leukemia thing. 😎
Hugs to you. You are NOT Alone.
Keep on Keepin’ On.
You can do this. ❤️

I am constantly in pain. I have Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, MS and CLL. Not a day goes by that I don't hurt.
I have had muscle cramping in the inner aspect of my thighs occasionally for a couple years now. At one point before my diagnosis of CLL my new GP had checked my blood for magnesium level which was found to be quite low. Been on magnesium supplement twice daily since and still the serum level is barely above the low normal range but the cramps have been less frequent. A couple days ago I got a cramp in my lower leg which made my toes turn upward and to the lateral side. It lasted a good five minutes before easing up when I was finally able to put my foot down flat on the floor again. Worse one yet. I’ve noticed that when I don’t hydrate enough is when cramps occur. Maybe ask your docs to check Magnesium level with your usual bloodwork just to see how it is and drink lots of fluids everyday! My two cents. Take care y’all!
I’ve been having terrible leg cramps. In my upper thighs. So painful it hurts so bad to walk. Is this normal for CLL?
