I had mentioned my WBC rose from 21,000 in December to 43,700 this last Friday. My ALC rose from 16.8 to 37.4 over the same time frame. Is this a typical happening in less than 2 months? These two readings more than doubled in less than 6 weeks. Can anything else besides CLL cause this drastic change? I do not not have COVID. It seems to be a huge jump for a virus or flu? Thank you.

A rise in white blood cell (WBC) count and absolute lymphocyte count can be significant indicators in the context of leukemia. Here are some key points from the knowledge base:

- High WBC Count: Known as leukocytosis, a high WBC count is a hallmark of some types of leukemia and other cancers of the bone marrow.
- Absolute Lymphocyte Count: Lymphocytes are a type of WBC that react first to viruses. An increase in lymphocytes can be associated with certain types of leukemia.
- Diagnosis and Monitoring: High WBC counts can indicate faster-growing leukemia and may affect treatment plans and prognosis. Regular complete blood count (CBC) tests are used to monitor these levels.

If you have high WBC and lymphocyte counts, it's important to discuss these results with your healthcare provider for further evaluation and appropriate management.
