Blood Transfusions for Leukemia: 5 Things To Know Read Article...
A MyLeukemiaTeam Member

I have CLL that affects my T-cells. I was diagnosed in December 2017. I am waiting to hear if I will be getting a blood transfusion. A recent blood draw shows my ferritin stores at 6. A GRAPH OVER TIME SHOWS THE ferritin has declined steadily over the past 3 1/2 yrs. My Dr says my iron level is low as well. It is less than 400 which is the lowest level for women. I guess this explains my fatigue and no energy! I did receive a low dose Vit B12 shot at my Dr's appointment this past week. Merry Christmas to my team!

They told me only THEE pints per year, The American Red Cross here in Arizona will not even allow donor blood from family or friends for my blood transfusion.

My uneducated belief is, in general, that if Medicare approves it, Plan F covers it. Call Medicare they are great in answering stuff like that. Good luck!
