With CLL, can white blood count be high on one test and then have a lower reading on other wbc test?
I have been diagnosed since January 2024 with CLL.
I had a ruptured disk and of course a lot of pain with it and a high WBC. After back surgery my WBC came down quite a lot.
Yes, with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL), white blood cell (WBC) counts can fluctuate. Various factors, including the progression of the disease and the effects of treatments, can cause these changes. Regular CBC testing is essential to monitor these variations and adjust treatment plans accordingly.

Dear Robert 507
Thanks for answering. 2 weeks before my WBC was higher and it has been that way since Feb 2024. I do not know what I did . I have not started on meds yet. What organ damage did you have?
The word "chronic" means "timely" so CLL can come and go over time? I take medication and this controls the illness but it may not be a cure? My doctor had told me to worry after I passed a certain level. He changed the level every few months before I requested medication before I noticed organ damage from CLL. I think it is great that your body had self control to manage your illness. What ever you are doing to reduce your level is worth repeating for better health.
