I am stage 1 with only slightly swollen lymph nodes. My blood work was still "normal" in January. I haven't been sleeping as well lately and have had more night sweats. All of that of course makes me more tired. Plus I think some of my lymph nodes are swelling more.

I had symptoms at the start keeping me in hospital for 10 days.ome doctor said wait the other (younger with less experience) said Imbruvica. I felt more comfortable with the les experienced doctor. Been on Imbruvica since 2021. At beginning I had a lot of fatigue. Been doing well and the amount was reduced. I really don't have an answer nor do the doctors in my opinion. If you feel like you need something request it. It is very expensive. 16 k plus per month. Grants and insurance covers most of it, but a somewhat substantial deductible needs to be met. There are things about the medications that are scary. Can cause other cancers, thins blood, bruising. I try not to read about the precautions....risk you take....keep that in mind. Follow a doctor with whom you can communicate well and are comfortable with. Don't be afraid to get other opinions.

My first year I did not learn anything from my doctor except my lymph glands were good & don't worry. After a year of watch my count increase 5,000 every month and the doctor changing the "worry" count number I decided to request medication. My first year I did not know we had low energy? I was visiting the gym 3 times a week and using the elliptical to run a mile in 9 1/2 minutes. I think the doctor was waiting for my illness to get worst and my organs to be impacted? My doctor never told me about medication or which. medications do to the body. I did discover all medications have ill affects, but my medication had no ill affect? All medications only control the bad white blood cells (WBC) so the count drops to normal. When the bad cells mutate then control is lost. Most medication can work for 3 to 5 years. The good news is that new medications are being approved every year that use a different method to control the cancer cells. I have learned to pace myself and I do my tasks first thing in the morning including visiting the gym 3 times a week. Eating healthy is also very important and this can benefit the body and your health. I think the more information we have the better our choices are in the future. Reading questions and comment was very helpful to me with learning about leukemia. This illness can be a long time situation and currently there is no cure; there is only "control" of the illness. The symptoms you're describing - increased night sweats, fatigue, and potentially enlarging lymph nodes - are important changes to discuss with your healthcare team. These symptoms can indicate disease progression, particularly when occurring together.

During stage 1, while blood counts may remain near normal, the development or worsening of symptoms like enlarged lymph nodes, night sweats, and increasing fatigue could signal it's time to consider treatment options. Communication with your doctor is essential during this time. They should examine your enlarged lymph nodes and may order new blood work to compare with your January results. If your lymph nodes become very enlarged or uncomfortable, or if your symptoms are significantly impacting your quality of life, these could be indicators that it's time to move beyond watch and wait.

Remember that everyone's experience with CLL is different, and the decision to start treatment is based on multiple factors, including your symptoms, blood test results, and overall health status.
