hello the group
has anyone with lymphoma and a history of c diff (clostridium dificile)
had a total hip replacement
If so I would like to hear from you and any information you might care to share.
I'm currently due for a total hip replacement and have trepedations, mostly about the issue of a potential for recurring c diff. AND of course infection.
I could use some perspective and maybe a bit of incentive.
I've had many orthopedic surgeries
This one scares me however.
I've not had surgery… read more

I have CLL and had my knee replaced in 2021 while on Ibrutinib. Had to stop Ibrutinib 4 days before and 4 days after. I too waited longer than I should have to have the surgery and was told I would not get full mobility. I did get full mobility and had no problems with infection. I would have been crippled without it. I walk, swim and do heavy gardening. I am healthier because I can move . I am now on Venetoclax and doing very well. Good luck!

I started with Rituxan infusions in May and was still on Ibrutinib. A month later I started the Venetoclax ramp up and stopped the Ibrutinib after the full ramp up. I have not had any major side effects. By the time I started the Venetoclax, my blood work was almost completely normal. Good luck with your hip.

My wife 65 had one hip done 11/24 and was in at 5 AM and out of the hospital by 1:30. She used a walker for 2 weeks, a cane for 2 weeks. She got a toilet seat extension so she did not sit so low on the toilet seat. In her past she was a jogger and was physically in good health and shape? About 3 months later we were on a week ship crusie with a good amount of walking around the ship and visiting 3 ports and more walking. She is trying to decide to do her back or the other hip? I hope you are fit and ready to be active after the operation so that the healing process can proceed without causeing delays to your recovery?

thank you... great to hear you are recovered from the knee surgery and had no complications. Hope you continue to do well on venetoclax. I did the full 2 year venetoclax treatment as well. How has the Ven' treatment been for you and how long have you been taking it?

Hi Rob3, I don't have CLL but I do have CML. I had a total hip replacement a year an a half ago. I was on a TKI treatment at the time, but I was in undetectability. I had no problems whatsoever. Recovery went smoothly--I was walking a few hours after surgery. Did my PT progressed from walker to cane and then solo within 4 weeks or so. Good luck!--jmb
