I had a career which required a yearly physical because I worked with both high radiation and toxic materials. I handled biological hazards and radioactive waste from research experiments. I never had any health problems. It wasn't until 10 years after I retired at age 60 that I developed CLL? I think the trigger for cancer is a stress in the body which can cause a cellular mutation?
Yes Robert I agree with stress being a trigger for many health issues. Also, your working with radiation and toxic materials probably worked against your system. So many people all over the world, who work in various "toxic" environments end up sometimes in bad health as the years go by. We often are not even aware at the time that it affects as we have no symptoms per se. Anyways, I am glad that you seize the day and are doing well overall:):)
No, in my opinion only...age has nothing to do with Leukemia. I was 51 when I was diagnosed....no history of blood cancer in my family..lived and still live very healthy, etc.
I was 70 when I was told and my WBC count was 19,000. Up until this time I had been going to the gym 3 times a week and not having any health problems? I did push myself doing many tasks for my age so maybe I wore out something to cause CLL?
