What preparations should you make for traveling abroad or taking a cruise with CML?
While the search results don't specifically address travel preparations, here are some important considerations based on CML treatment information:
Medication Management:
- Ensure you have enough of your daily TKI medication for the entire trip, plus extra in case of delays
- Keep medications in their original containers with prescription labels
- Set alarms or reminders to take your medication at the same time each day, even across time zones
- Bring a copy of your prescription in case you need refills
Treatment Considerations:
- Some TKIs like Tasigna must be taken on an empty stomach, while others like Danziten can be taken with food
- Missing doses can negatively affect your survival and response rate, so maintaining your schedule is crucial
Before You Go:
- Talk with your cancer care team about your travel plans
- Ask about managing potential side effects while traveling
- Get contact information for medical facilities at your destination
- Ensure your insurance coverage extends to your travel location
Your oncologist can provide specific guidance based on your individual treatment plan and current health status.
