What subtype of leukemia is commonly induced after chemotherapy treatment?
Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is the most common type of leukemia that can develop after chemotherapy treatment. This is recognized as a long-term side effect of cancer treatment, particularly in people who were originally treated for other types of leukemia like acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL).
Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) is also frequently seen after chemotherapy. The risk increases with longer use of chemotherapy drugs or higher doses.
Certain chemotherapy drugs carry higher risks. For example, alkylating agents and anthracyclines have been specifically associated with secondary cancer development. The chemotherapy regimen FCR (fludarabine, cyclophosphamide, and rituximab), used to treat chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), has been linked to later development of AML or MDS.
These secondary blood cancers typically appear between five and 10 years after the initial cancer diagnosis.

In the 70's treatments were known to be toxic and cause cancer. I never had a treatment but people get this drugs injected when at a hospital just in case the ill affects are really bad? People report "brain fog" which means the chemicals affect the central nervous system. I hope doctors tell people all the bad affects that happen when they try to kill cancer cells.
