- Drink plenty of water throughout the day
- Fully empty your bladder every time you urinate
- Wipe front to back after using the toilet
- Urinate after sexual intercourse
- Wear loose cotton underwear
- Keep your genital area clean
When a UTI does occur, antibiotics are the standard treatment. Your doctor will choose the right one based on the bacteria involved.
