Now I see my oncologist monthly to receive treatment as part of the management process. I stillI have my days in which I don’t feel that great but overall I’m doing good.

I had the stem transplant in October of last year. Instead of my doctor, doing a bone marrow transplant,he withdrew my own stem cells, separated the good from the bad and on the day procedure, my cells were put back in me.I had to stay in the hospital for about three weeks, but when I left, I rang the bell and my doctor said that it put me in deep remission and hopefully he will not have to see me for many years to come

Yes, a stem cell transplant should put you into remission for a few years but you have to have the right donor and furthermore the procedure is complicated and not entirely risk free

Call the hospital and ask how much for a stem cell transplant, including hospitalization, drugs, etc. Then call Medicare and ask them how much will they cover (what percentage of costs) for each item.

The cost can be $1/2 million so a money grant would help with the copayment cost? The chemo treatment to kill all the cells can be hard on a person which means a hospital stay until you are well enough to take care of yourself after the harsh chemo treatments.
