Great news — organic produce is not specifically required for people with CLL. The focus should be on eating a wide variety of colorful fruits and vegetables, which you're already doing brilliantly!

The most important food safety step is thoroughly washing all fresh fruits and vegetables before eating them. This is especially important with CLL because it can leave the immune system more vulnerable to foodborne illness. Here are the key priorities for fruit and veg with CLL:

- Wash everything well before eating or preparing
- Eat a range of colors to get diverse vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants
- Include iron-rich options like lentils, beans, pumpkin seeds, and tomato products
- Pair iron-rich foods with vitamin C (like a squeeze of lemon) to help your body absorb iron better

Saving money by buying conventional produce and spending it on variety is a smart approach. Your immune system will thank you for the rainbow on your plate!

I eat healthy food and I do not purchase anything special. I also have Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) so I avoid sugars and high carbohydrates. I live in California so getting healthy food is no problem. I have added riced cauliflower to my diet which is a great rice (high carbohydrate) substitute. I also eat cauliflower flour pizza crust which means I can add healthy choices when I make my pizza to avoid sugars and high carbohydrates. I am 74 but I get around like I am 40. Eating healthy and exercising is very important for a healthy and happy future. Celebrating Long Life (CLL)
