Fatigue is the curse of all luekaemia patients. Some find this the biggest obstacle or enemy to getting their health back on track
For me fatigue has been the worst part of my journey. I had to retire early and have had just over 14 months oral and Iv chemo. The fatigue did not improve post treatment. I still have immunoglobulin treatment every month, so knew I needed to do something that would improve my health. My bloods are all over the place and I suffer from anemia, all of these are… read more

Members responded warmly to a post about fighting leukemia-related fatigue through gentle exercise, sharing their own strategies for managing energy levels. Several members found that supplements like B12, magnesium, and iron helped with fatigue and sleep, while others emphasized the importance of working with your body's natural rhythms, doing tasks in the morning and resting with naps as needed. A recurring theme was being gentle with yourself, knowing your limits, finding movement that works for your body, and leaning on family, community, and upcoming PT appointments to keep moving forward.

I have been taking vitamins and supplements which seems to work. This morning up at 5AM and at 6:30 vacuumed all the rooms had a glass of cold coffee then shampoo carpets. I ate breakfast then outside to cut and split wood. My wife limits me to 2 hours of tasks. I am 74 I have CLL my medication makes my blood 🩸 tests 100% normal. I hope your weather is cool like my weather which is normally hot and dry.

Hi Barb , taking iron supplements has to help, I’m sure. Unfortunately fatigue is something we all suffer . Wish there was a magic wand to make me feel like I’m 20 again

Good morning MeredithO. When first diagnosed with CLL in June 2022, my hematologist strongly urged me to get skin checks. CLL or any time of blood cancer can promote skin cancer. I had not been to dermatologist in years, so now go once a year. Nothing of concern yet. Weird, because I grew up in Destin, FL and lived at the beach. My husband was a residential builder until he retired and has had several squamous skin cancer treatments. Squamous can move thru the body. My father had squamous skin cancer that got into lymph system. First sign was in June 2011 and passed in Feb 2012. So please get those exams.

Mornings are my best time to get things done, especially if I had a good nights sleep. But lately my insomnia has been happening up 3 times a week. I have ALL still in treatment phase. I take naps daily (1-2 hrs). Today was tough possibly diagnosed with skin cancer with other areas on face and back being pre-cancerous. So now I get to work on two cancers. But I am trying to keep a positive attitude. Tough part is not being able to work. I had 3 jobs prior to my diagnosis Feb. 2025. I am a nurse of 40 yrs. At 61 years planned working to 70 now reassessing retirement.

Hello BarbLH. I take B12 to help with fatigue. Be careful with iron because the common side effect is constipation. I also take Magnesium to help with muscle, bone and sleep. I take it at supper. Listen to your body and rest/nap whenever needed. Take care.
