It sounds like your oncologist is being proactive in finding the right balance between effective treatment and managing side effects — that's a good sign!
Dose adjustments are a common part of leukemia treatment. Working closely with your care team to fine-tune your dosage can make a real difference in your quality of life Show Full Answer
Last September I stopped my medication for a month to stop a strange ill affect. My blood test before and after were 100% normal. I began my medication at 50% dose and my blood test continued to be 100% normal. All medications can have possible ill affects but I think you will find no problem with ill affects or protection. Many people are taking reduced dose with 100% normal protection.
Wishing you fewer or no side effects with this new treatment plan!
Hopefully the side effects subside, because that will alter the rest of your treatment. I have been blessed so far because mine usually only last a day or two, except for mild headache or brain fog which comes and goes during the day. Hopefully they get yours straightened out soon.
Randy,
I had to reduce my dosage of a BTK inhibitor because of serious side effects. The side effects are better on the lower dosage.
Of course I wonder if, with a lower dose, it will take longer to determine the effectiveness. My oncologist said he honestly didn’t know.
I see my oncologist on Tuesday. (Scans today.)
Stay positive.
