Cancer can be scary. Halloween is the celebration of scary. When i first went into the hospital I would've been dead within 24 hours if I hadn't gone when I did. It was Halloween. Now I celebrate Halloween as the anniversary of my death 🤪 As a cancer patient how will you celebrate Halloween this year?

Cancer patients and supporters shared how they plan to celebrate Halloween this year, with responses ranging from horror movie marathons and haunted house tours to pumpkin stew dinners and birthday celebrations falling on October 30th and 31st. Several members described finding joy in simpler fall traditions like admiring autumn leaves, carving pumpkins, and handing out candy to trick-or-treaters, while others volunteered at nursing homes or dressed up pets in costumes. A recurring theme was finding lightness and gratitude during the season, with many members connecting their cancer journeys to a deeper appreciation for being alive.

I took my wife to a build constructed in 1896. It has 4 floors and a huge basement. The building looks like a castle and built with bricks and stone. There is an annual haunted house tour which lasts an hour and a person can walk 1 mile during the tour. My wife was tired and screamed 4 times from scary hidden zombies in the dark hallways. I was not tired and drove us home 30 miles in a country road in the mountains. This haunted tour raised money to restore the empire building

Wow im so glad you got to the hospital in time Ajaya! What a day for that to happen on eh? I use to love halloween and i still do but in a different way. I guess i figure life is scary enough so now i just do easier simpler things. I celebrate the wonderful fall harvest of squash corn pumpkins etc. I truly admire the changes of the colors of the leaves and like to go for drives to see them in certain areas. Theres never any good new halloween movies made any more. I like to find neighbourhoods that are all done up for display. Youtube has lots that you can watch. One really good one to watch is Dyker Heights Brooklyn Halloween 2026. You can find lots on youtube. Then just sit back with your popcorn! That what i do now. Its quite fun.

The nursing home sounds like fun. I used to be a waiter at the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs. Arkansas. It's famous for being haunted. Halloween was fun because guests would dress up in costumes. One year I waited on Count Dracula and the Bride of Frankenstein, lol.

Good morning Ajaya😊
I am not a fan of scary movies. I have a very vocal mini Schnauzer so I keep my lights off to deter trick or treaters🎃
At the nursing home I volunteer at we have activities for the residents and we all dress up...last year I was a pumpkin...this year I think I'll be a witch🧙

For Halloween this year we usually get together and have a special Halloween dinner with the main attraction a stew cooked in a big pumpkin. I love to pass out candy to all who come as well. My grandkids are older and some still go Trick Or Treating and I feel blessed they come to visit and get all the goodies.
