Hi Eileen,
I’m use to back pain due to scoliosis but with the diagnosis of T-LGLL came a new pain in the thoracic area. Oddly Tylenol has helped! Now I take it morning and night. I’ll let you know what the oncologist has to say in 2 weeks.

Can CLL cause severe back pain? While back pain isn't always listed as a primary symptom of CLL, it can be connected in a few important ways.

Leukemia cells can build up in the bone marrow, which may lead to bone and joint pain — including in the back. On average, about 1 in 4 people with leukemia experience bone pain, particularly in the earlier stages.

A MyLeukemiaTeam member also shared this insight: "CLL seems to magnify any kind of preexisting condition. So, if you had chronic pain before your CLL diagnosis, it's safe to say that it will become magnified." There are a few CLL-related reasons back pain might occur:

- Enlarged spleen — An enlarged spleen can cause pain in the upper-left abdomen, which can sometimes radiate to the back
- Enlarged liver — This can also contribute to abdominal and back discomfort
- Bone marrow involvement — Leukemia cells building up in the bone marrow can cause pain throughout the body, including the back
- Anemia — Low red blood cell counts can cause fatigue and general physical discomfort

It's really important to let your doctor know about any severe or new back pain. They can help figure out whether it's directly related to CLL, a side effect of treatment, or something else that needs attention.
