I use to take the shot but my wbc went up too much so I took drugs to knock it down. I am on a new chemo pill that really knock my RBC and platelets to under 7 and under 10 . I do blood work 2 times a week and lately had pick line installed so I can get blood and platelets. Just praying it works for me and everyone with AML or other types of leukemia. Please have faith and pray a lot.

Bone pain is sometimes a sign that your body is starting to produce the white blood cells. When I was taking Nupegon shots to help this along, I hurt so bad that it felt worse then any aches and pains I'd ever had with the worst flu ever!!! I know this is so scary, but have faith it will work out for you. Also, if you're anemic from the chemo and such, cook only in cast iron to help raise you red blood counts. It helped me immensely.

I did have a port when I was in the hospital. but now that I am on maintence chemo and shots in the stomach for 5 days (2)shots a day and chemo meds 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off< I no longer have a port, which is fine. Do you have azidine shots in your stomach? Have a good day

I am 74 years old and was diagnosed with AML in January of 2023. My joint and bone pain were horrible. I could barely walk.I was prescribed a pain pill which I had to take every 4-6 hours,but I still had some pain ,and the pain medicine caused severe constipation.I was then prescribed a low dose Fentanyl patch that I wear.The patch is good for 3 days,and then I put on a fresh one.It is so easy,and the difference is like night and day.I only need a pain pill about 3 or 4 times a week,and I am doing things like I used to do.My doctor also suggested I have a port inserted because of all my needed chemo and blood work.The port involved minor surgery,but it has made a difference.I no longer dread all those needle sticks .I was afraid the port would interfere with my life and would be uncomfortable,but after about a week,I did not know it was there.It really helps take the dread out of those lab visits every week.I hope your doctor helps you find pain relief.The bone pain seems to go with AML ,but the right medicine will certainly help you feel much better.
