Hi Teresa, CML affects the myeloid cells in the blood and bone marrow, while CMML affects a specific myeloid cell called a monocyte, which helps to fight infections.

The genetic markers differ in each condition. There are similarities in that they are both chronic leukemias and are treatable. People can live normal lives with both.

CMML is not CML but can develop into CML which has a higher morbidity rate.
