Is There A Correlation Between CLL And GCA (Great Cell Arteritis)

A MyLeukemiaTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was just diagnosed with GCA. It's an extremely painful condition. Now I'm on prednisone which has caused my CLL numbers to go up since it's an immune suppressant.

Thank you for sharing. It looks like I'll be on Prednisone indefinitely at this point. Does anyone know how cayenne might affect GCA?

Iolene, I’m sorry to hear this. GCA is an autoimmune condition that definitely needs treatment to avoid serious complications. CLL takes a backseat for now, despite your numbers spiking. I had polymyalgia rheumatica (a close relative of GCA) 10 years ago and was on prednisone for a year. Please try not to be discouraged, as GCA is serious and takes precedence over the CLL for now. So you are headed in the right direction treating the GCA. Thinking of and praying for you! ❤️🙏
