Lots of reasons why you may or may not qualify...different states and their disability people (medical examiners, judges, etc) have different criteria/if you qualify and certain parameters to meet. I'm still fighting the system after 4 yrs..have been denied 2 times...appealed both...had lawyer involved that did nothing unfortunately and now I am representing myself. Appeals council thankfully has reviewed all my evidence and all the gross negligent errors that were made and next hearing is in April where the judge will have to answer questions appeals council found in entire case. Not only do I have CLL, I have white matter disease of the brain, disc problems, lower back, etc etc. All a crap shoot...If you do decide to get a lawyer, be sure and ask them how many cases they have won, what your chances are for real, etc etc.

Listen to Deb9. I tried doing it myself. There is a real resistance to it. I finally got a lawyer and a court date. Start right away and stay on it - unfortunately there are not alot of especially good and willing firms that take this on. It's a flat rate case governed by what your state allows.
