I believe, and my health care providers agree, that having a hobby is conducive to good mental health. Do you have a hobby? If so share it here 😁

Members shared a rich variety of hobbies that help them cope with cancer, with music emerging as a powerful form of therapy, whether attending live concerts, playing piano or guitar, or simply listening at home. Several members described creative outlets like crocheting hats and afghans for hospitals, making awareness bracelets with positive messages, gardening and cooking with homegrown vegetables, painting, writing fiction, and building RC airplanes as ways to stay mentally engaged and find joy. A recurring theme was that staying active through hobbies, whether physical activities like kayaking and biking or mental pursuits like reading history and quantum physics, provides essential distraction from illness while fostering purpose, community connection, and a sense of living one day at a time.

Diane, I know it's a big adjustment cooking for just yourself. And eating by yourself is even tougher. But I just made some zuchinni bread (zuchinni from my garden) and some honey butter to go with it. Sometimes... there is a comforting aspect to being in the company of ones own self... a quietude.

I love to kayak and walk the dogs. I’m also a pretty good gardener and cook.

Avid reader of quality fiction and non fiction. Used to be a university research librarian so I have no patience for poorly written books lol!Love to cook and plan mostly ethnic recipes . I have 135 spice bottles and complete Asian and Arab cooking pantries. Is a foodie obsession a relaxing hobby? For 34 years of marriage we have exercised in gyms. I need the variety of yoga, swimming and Tai chi in with cardio and weight training. Mentally the variety of reading, cooking and gym workouts gives me a better perspective when dealing with that killer fatigue. Cannot travel much because with migraine and husband's bad back,it takes too much out of us, but I don't miss it at all.

Spring through fall I work in my flower garden & my neigh or's as well . I also still do all mowing including walking with a push mower. In the fall I walk indoors- read- sew * cook a lot. I'm involved at church & mingle with family & friends. Keeping busy takes focus off CLL even though I'm subconsciously aware of it daily .
