Soultime I had donated blood 60 times ten years before I knew I had CLL? I know there are many questions people are asked before the blood is taken. I know after the blood is collected there are tests to ensure the blood is not contaminated with something that will make somebody ill. I understand since I have CLL I can not donate since cancer is in my blood. Blood is very expensive because more tests are done as there becomes something new to test for in the blood. I once donated blood and I had to drive 120 miles to a hospital to donate the blood so the patient I was giving to who only required 1 pint got my donated blood. Today I realize people may be reading or hearing false information to scare people who do not know about validating the information they get about a subject of concern. I hope people do their research to ensure their source of information is true or correct?
How do they know if the covid 19 vax doesn't affect the blood when there are no studies or stats yet?
I only donated 60 times so far in my life. You receiving 168 units is amazing?
Hi Robert, blood transfusions? I’ve had 168 units so far due to battling AML. Blood in general is safe but there are risks, they explain the risk beforehand.
You are correct Soultime. I received bad blood during month four in the hospital. It took them three days to figure out what to do and what was the cause of a near death infection. No amount of testing is perfect
