Hello BevyBevy. I have moderate allergies and can usually keep them in check. UNC ENT has me using Flonase and Azelastine nasal sprays and saline rinses. I kept getting sinus issues (they call upper respiratory) crap after starting Calquence. Like the article mentions it helps your immune system because CLL and treatment compromises the immune system. Hematologist checked my IgG (immunoglobulin) and it had tanked to 250. Bottom number on range is 650 and they get concerned when below 500. First IVIG November of 2024 and every 28 days for 3 times. Then went to 42 days twice, then 53 days once and last one was 63 days. My IgG went up and stayed up when on 28 day cycle. Came down a little at 42 days and more at 53 days. IgG tanked to 461 on last visit which was 63 days. Next one is 42 days in December and 42 days in January. Also given Tylenol and Benadryl 30 minutes before the drip starts. The drip starts slow for the first 30 minutes for your first IVIG. Every 30 minutes vitals are checked and speed increased. This cycle continues until your are done. I now only have a 15 minute first slow speed and then start ramping up speed every 30 minutes. Vitals still taken every time speed increased. No problems and no side effects. No port, just the butterfly in the arm The nurse does the sticking with butterfly and draws blood for lab at the same time. She then wraps arm until ready for infusion room. The dressing used to cover butterfly ulcerated my skin so they now use product for sensitive skin. Make sure they know if the tape and/or dressing irritates your skin. Have been getting IVIG for nearly 15 years. Never had a reaction to the infusion. I used to have constant sinus infections but they are mostly gone. It can't prevent all infections though. I've had covid twice.i used to get infusions every four weeks but now I get them every six weeks and they seem to keep the majority of respiratory infections at bay. I actually consider the four hours of an infusion as "me time." No phone calls, no one needing anything from me for a few hours, and even a good time to get some much needed sleep.

I've been taking IVIG treatments seven years or so. Absolutely no problems at all. I used to get a head cold at least once a year, I've had one in the past seven years. The IVIG truly does boost your immune system. With the IVIG once every four weeks and Imbrubica daily my blood work is normal and I feel fine. Hint: Be sure to always take the pre meds. I didn't take them one time and that was the only time I got nauseous, otherwise I've never had a bad reaction to the IVIG. Good luck, you'll be fine.👍😁
