Anyone experience a significant change in the nodes located under the jaw area? Mine are now pea sized and move around and very tender.

I only have right groin lymph node tenderness & swelling. A warm compress or heating pad seems to reduce swelling & is more comfortable

Yes, other MyLeukemiaTeam members have experienced similar changes with their lymph nodes. Tender, swollen lymph nodes can occur for several reasons when you have CLL.

Common causes include:

- Infections - This is one of the most common reasons for tender, swollen lymph nodes. Upper respiratory infections, sinus infections, strep throat, and other infections can cause lymph nodes to swell and become painful. One member shared they get "enlarged, painful lymph nodes in my neck during an acute viral attack."

- CLL progression - Swollen lymph nodes can indicate your CLL is progressing, especially if they're growing over time or becoming more uncomfortable.

- Increased infection risk - People with CLL are more prone to infections because the bone marrow makes abnormal lymphocytes that don't effectively fight off germs.

The fact that your nodes are movable and tender actually suggests infection is more likely than cancer progression alone, as CLL-related nodes are typically painless and firm.

You should contact your cancer care team about this change. They can examine you to determine whether this is from an infection that needs treatment or a sign of CLL progression. Sudden painful or rapidly growing lymph nodes warrant medical attention.

Sue, I have one small moveable painless node under my chin to the right.

I requested medication before I had any node problems. I did learn a few months ago from my new regular doctor my spleen is enlarged which I never heard from my blood doctor who had not told me much of anything about CLL.

SueFranks2 I haven’t noticed any soreness from that area I’m not sure where all the lymph nodes are on the body wish I could help you have a blessed day
