No, accelerated phase CML is still CML. AML is a different disorder. But from what I hear it can develop into AML.

- CML is a slowly progressing cancer that goes through three phases: chronic, accelerated, and blast. The accelerated phase is when immature white blood cells (blasts) begin to increase

Genetic differences:
- AML commonly involves mutations in genes like FLT3, c-KIT, RAS, IDH1, IDH2, and TP53
- CML nearly always involves the Philadelphia chromosome, which creates a fusion gene called BCR-ABL that drives uncontrolled cell growth
