I just started treatment for CLL in December 2025. I had anemia for 2 1/2 years as well as low platelet counts. My white count was less than 100. Iron infusions barely made a blip on the chart of my red blood cells and hemoglobin. My doctor ordered a bone marrow biopsy which moved me from Stage 1 to Stage 3.

As for costs a combination of Medicare, a gap policy and clinical trial funding has taken care of almost everything. However, I am working with a Debt Case Manager at Blood Cancer United to resolve a molecular biopsy bill of $8,955.00.

Thank you. I definitely will be talking to my doctor and the cancer center about this, too. Someone just told me her husband’s Brukinsa is 16,000/month. He was hospitalized due to being at stage 4 before being diagnosed. The hospital got him a grant. The costs for medicine is so outrageously wrong.

You have been dealing with so much. I hope that the treatment you are receiving is making a difference for you, and you are feeling much better.

Thank you for replying. Thank God you receive a grant. That is so wonderful. How could someone pay those costs?? Hard enough to deal with the fatigue and other symptoms and the worries without being faced with very unaffordable treatment. I hope I will be offered something like that. Best wishes to you.
