My appointment with the new oncologist is in 3 days , October 29th. Their package states this first appointment takes 2 hours , so I anticipate it will be thorough.
Hi Veronica! I have CLL/SLL with unmutated IGHV and combination of q13 and trisomy 12 gene mutations which put me at intermediate risk. I was diagnosed in 2021 and underwent treatment with Obinatuzumab (Gazyva)/Venetoclax combination in Sept 2022. My most notable complication was severe neutropenia. I was able to complete the 6 months of IV obinatuzumab after which time I came down with Covid in March of 2023. In spite of being treated for Covid it remained in my body and caused me to develop covid pneumonia in July and was hospitalized twice in the span of 2 months. As a result I wasn’t able to complete the full 1 year course of Venetoclax. Thankfully since then I have been in remission with good lab results up till now. Had it not been fir the Covid I would have been able to complete my treatment. Today there are new combinations of medications fir treatment. I urge you to discuss your concerns with the oncologist when you see him/her. They will take all your health issues under consideration in order to determine which combination is the best for you. Best of luck and hope you will get answers to your questions.
Thanks ; I’ve scheduled a second opinion consultation with a new oncologist . Hopefully she will be better able to explain things.
So glad you have a second opinion appointment Veronica. When do you go? Please keep us updated ok.
Hi Veronica. First post/response is AI which you may want to be careful of…robot generated response.. Just a thought… I would consult with your oncologist to get the reality of your diagnosis/prognosis..
