Having CMML-1 means there are between 2–4% blast cells (immature cells) in the blood and 5–9% in the bone marrow. These abnormal cells crowd out healthy blood cells, including red blood cells, which can lead to a condition called anemia. Low red blood cells (anemia) means your body isn't getting enough oxygen. This can cause a range of symptoms, including:

- Fatigue and extreme tiredness
- Weakness
- Pale skin
- Shortness of breath
- Chest pain In CMML, anemia happens because the abnormal leukemic cells divide uncontrollably, taking over the bone marrow and preventing it from producing enough healthy red blood cells.

It's really important to let your doctor know how you're feeling, as they may adjust your treatment plan if your red blood cell levels are dropping. They might also order follow-up blood tests to better understand what's causing the low counts.
