Ive recently been cheated on and abandoned and now alone and my thoughts are going into the near future. I would like a relationship and or marriage again one day. How does someone with cancer find love or a relationship again? Do i look for someone else that has cancer? Then there would be 2 people with cancer looking after each other. That would be hard too....but ive thought about it. If i met someone i would tell them upfront. Scared of being rejected again. Part of me thinks i should stay… read more

Members responded with warmth and encouragement to someone navigating love and loneliness after being cheated on while living with CLL, with a common theme being to focus on health and self-discovery before seeking a relationship. Several members suggested practical ways to meet people, like the gym, dating apps, church groups, and friends, while also stressing the importance of being upfront about cancer early on. One member shared a hopeful personal story of finding true love online after a similar heartbreak, reassuring others that meaningful relationships are still very much possible.

Just a thought TSully…put “finding/dating” someone on the back burner so to speak for 6 months or more. Find yourself first…put your health first as others have suggested..being on your own/alone is not a bad thing at all…actually it’s very positive & relaxing to just be who we are..

My opinion only. If your illness is the main focus of your daily life, I wouldn’t seek someone for a serious relationship. However if you’re actively living a full life and all each day has to offer to include forcing the leukemia to the back of your priorities, then all things are possible

I too was cheated on after 35 years of marriage and have this awful illness hanging on my back. I just found true love again.we met on line we were both looking for friendship so I never said anything about my leukemia until things stared going crazy, sorry thats the only way I know to explain it,but anyway I thought he'd drop me like a hot cookie. But he is now my biggest supporter. So please never give up on love. It's out there for you too, good luck to you.

I hope you have a normal life that does not require the CLL habits of focusing on the illness? When I retired I was 60 and I was told I had CLL when I was 72. When I retired I focused on visiting the gym 3 times a week and jogging. I also live on 5 acres which requires at least 6 hours of work per week. I never changed my routine nor did I bother to tell my wife I had CLL. My doctor was confused with my weekly activities and my wife wanted me to act my age and not be so active? I have been taking medication to control my CLL and my blood is 100% normal and so is my health and happiness. I think you should get your life back to normal by getting control over your CLL and then get your mental and physical health together. When I go to the gym there are 3 times more women than men so if you want to meet a healthy person who is focused on their health then this might be the place? My wife and I visit the gym together and she is very healthy and worried about my all my activities which I think are totally normal.......Celebrating Long Life (CLL)
