Members living with cancer and blood cancers shared a wide variety of ways they manage stress, from creative hobbies like woodworking, building toy rooms, and constructing castles for grandchildren, to physical outlets like daily running and walking in nature. Several members found comfort in pets, prayer, journaling, meditation, breathwork, and listening to audiobooks, while others leaned on humor, music, and rearranging furniture to feel a sense of control. A recurring theme was the power of focusing on small, meaningful activities and staying connected to loved ones, with many members encouraging others to simply try something new and give themselves grace along the way.

Stress relief? I have never done any woodworking but I do now. The latest castles.

How did I deal with Stress? I was told to get a Hobby. Grandchildren grow up quickly, mine are still very young and like playing with imagination. Adults would never sit on a fence.

How did I deal with Stress? I was told to get a Hobby and so with the aid of E Bay and having two young Grandchildren I purchased and made a toy room. The children place the people where they want which is entertaining in itself. I managed to put my posh Lafuma Zero Gravity in the corner for a kip whenever I feel weary. So much better for children to play with imagination in my opinion.

I try to keep up with the challenges of stress by doing one thing at a time and making sure i rest in between each little thing i do. I like to watch long virtual hiking videos with the sounds of birds and water when i cant really get outside to go out and walk or hike in nature. There are some really good ones on youtube. I turn my space into a little sanctuary this way and relax in a comfortable chair and i read and i write. When i get really worried and anxious i always remember what my mom told me before she passed away from cancer.....and that is theres no point in worrying because it wont get you anywhere and it wont do anything for you. Easier said than done but i try!

I run. I have been running almost daily since 1977. I usually run 2-5 miles a day and say a set of prayers called the rosary. I have covered over 65,000 miles and completed 17 marathons. I even ran half marathons while undergoing treatment.
