My donor stem cells were frozen before my transplant. I had my transplant in 2020 at the beginning of covid. My donor was from the International registry and there was a lot of uncertainty about possible travel bans, etc. My doctors had my donor cells frozen because they wanted to be certain we had them in the hospital before proceeding with anything. I was told freezing them was not an issue and four and a half years later, I feel 100% healthy.
