I hear ya but it would be so refreshing for a real honest and forthright dr to say every aspect of the treatment. It's got me to where I don't want treatment because the pros out way the cons I'm just really tired of being sick because of the meds

I agree that doctors do not know it all about cancer or how to "manage" it? I found more answer than I ever got from my doctor. Doctors are suppose to be helper and information sure helps with both mental and physical issues. It no answers are provided to help than the whole process becomes an experiment to see "what happens?" I think at this time I may know as much as a beginning cancer doctor learning about CLL. I also know I would share information to help "care" for the illness.

Mary, when my case of leukemia was getting bad and treatment was being discussed, my thoughts were on the ugly side effects of doing chemo. When my blood labs were designated critical, I was taken to the hospital, and stayed there for a week till they got my hemoglobin up to were it was safe to send me home. It was low enough for me to go into cardiac arrest. While in the hospital, an oncologist talked to me for half an hour till I conceded, and agreed to start treatments.

Yep, infusion treatment and taking an oral treatment brought on some side effects that were uncomfortable and at times challenging, and at times made life discouraging.
And having a reaction to my second to the last infusion treatment landed me in a wheelchair for six months with a damaged nervous system. I'm out of the wheelchair, but my equilibrium and motor skills are still off a bit, and I still have some cognitive struggles.

BUT... the sun is starting to rise, the coffee machine is chugging away while I listen to the birds chirp and sing in the morning. I still have some lingering side effects, even though I've been in remission almost a year... but the journey through treatments was worth it.
Now just where did I put my coffee cup.........
