I think there is a big difference between treatment and medication. After 1 year of W & W I demanded medication. I did not want to have damaged organs or other problems from CLL. I think doctors hold back with medication is the expense but my medical people applied for a grant which paid the insurance co-pay. There is no cure today but the medication can control the bad cells. I was at 75,000 and today 6,800. The control will last until the bad cells mutate and control is lost. Then it is time for a new medication. New medications are being tested or approved every year. Each medication uses a different or new method to control the bad cells and inactivate the cells. I think we should get answers to our questions so we can make the right choice for our health and happiness.
In my case it took a combination of factors for me to push for treatment: 1) daily periods of low grade fever 2) internal swollen lymph nodes 3) swollen spleen 4) WBC over 200 and increasing.
Thank you🥰
Swollen lymph nodes can be a sign that CLL is progressing and may indicate it's time to discuss treatment options with your doctor. When evaluating CLL staging, doctors look at whether your condition has low, intermediate, or high risk. The presence of swollen lymph nodes may put you in the intermediate or high-risk group Show Full Answer
