For the past 4 yrs I’ve been taking, daily, 300mg Veneteclax. Protocal is 400mg/day but 300mg seems to keep my CLL at bay and immune system at lowest edge of normal.
I’m wondering if others taking this drug experience muscle and joint pains. I thought it was just my 73 yr old body but I had covid in Dec, off the drug for 10 days and didn’t have muscle/joint pain. It may have been that the steroid I was taking for a sinus infection helped.
Anyone ?

Are muscle and joint pains common side effects of long-term Venclexta (venetoclax) treatment?

Your observation about the timing of your muscle and joint pain is really insightful. While the most commonly reported side effects of Venclexta include anemia, neutropenia, diarrhea, and nausea, muscle and bone pain has been documented as a side effect in clinical trials.

In studies of venetoclax combined with other medications, muscle and bone pain was specifically listed among the common side effects experienced by patients. The fact that your pain improved when you stopped the medication for 10 days is a significant clue that it could be related to the Venclexta.

It's worth noting that steroids can also help reduce inflammation and pain, so that may have contributed to your relief as well. Since you've been managing your CLL successfully on a lower dose than the standard protocol, this is definitely something to discuss with your oncology team. They might be able to adjust your treatment or suggest ways to manage the discomfort while keeping your CLL controlled.

I am 74 and I have been taking Brukinsa for the past few years. I visit the gym 3 times week and I do tasks at my property when I am not at the gym. Last week in 3 days I spent 4 hours cutting weeds. Most days I feel like I am 40 with not pains or illness (no flu for a few years?) I eat healthy and exercise to maintain my flexible. All drugs have possible ill affects and I hope you find the answer to making your life better?
