My nephew had leukemia when he was age 7 thru 10. He is in remission and been for years. But I want to know what is his chances coming back?

I am 74 and I have had CLL since I was 71. I take medication that controls those bad cells. All my blood tests are 100% normal and my WBC count is 7500. I know my medication Brukinsa can be effective for 10 to 20 years at controlling those bad cells. I know when the bad cells mutate the control can be lost and I will need a new medication to control those bad cells. I am very active and eat healthy and exercise. I have learned to pace myself and I am busy in the morning and relax in the afternoon. Timely blood tests to monitor the status of WBC count will be required. Learning about CLL from reading questions and answers is very helpful. This is a long term illness. My father's sister had CLL and she passed away at 93. I had read there may be a medical breakthrough in 10 years regarding CLL medication to cure or control this illness better. Celebrating Long Life (CLL)

About 98 percent of children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) go into remission with treatment. When leukemia does come back, it's called recurrent leukemia and is often treated with different therapies or adjusted medication doses.

Several factors affect the likelihood of relapse, including:
* The specific type of leukemia
* Genetic changes in the leukemia cells
* How well the leukemia responded to initial treatment
* Blood cell counts during and after treatment
