I take Brukinsa which is a BTK inhibitor. My blood tests have all been 100% normal and my WBC count has been 7,500. I am active and visit the gym 3 times a week and do activities at my property. I just learned from a new doctor who reviewed my medical record my spleen is enlarged? I never had any lumps or bumps from excess WBC? I hope you find your answer to your question so you can decide your next step?
Hi JesusRodriguez,
My knowledge of remission came through my routine bloodwork. When I was diagnosed there was no talk of remission for me. The best I could do was a flat line of the bcr/abl. I achieved that after a few years of treatment but still stayed on my drug (TKI) for 2 years more, I believe. Then they took me off the TKI to see how I did. They told me later that if my CML was to return the bcr/abl usually spikes within 6 months after discontinuing the TKI. I have had only one bone marrow aspiration and that was to confirm my diagnosis of the type of Leukemia I had. I continue to have blood work done routinely, I stay in touch with my doc but only see him 1 X a year now. But, and this is important if my blood work starts to tank (and it can) we start treatment immediately. This is my story and what I know of this treatment--your doctor may do things differently. Wishing you the best outcome possible.--jmb
