During the day when I relax in the afternoon I find myself getting sleepy. I try to stay awake past 8 PM and then sleep all night. I do get up before 6 AM and begin my day. This morning I was outside at 7 AM cutting weeds in an area 100 ft by 300 ft. My wife came outside to tell me it was time to quit because I had been outside for 2 hours. Then around 3 PM I was getting tired but by 4 PM I was ready to go until 9 PM. I had learned years ago if I relaxed during the day I might be up at night because of that little nap during the day. I hope you can push through the day so you can sleep at night.

Yeah the sleep thing, mine comes from both the leukemia and my liver issues. Just when I think I have it mastered, it starts again. Due to medicine sensitivity, I can't take sleeping meds---hepatologist has me on zyrtec at night ( helps with the prickly itches and kinda sleep--sort of), then I'm on new BP meds, 2 at night supposed to make you sleepy ( two nights at most). Now I'm looking at a vagus nerve thing that's supposed to relax, clear the mind ( if it clears mine, get out of the way there's a myriad of chunk), lessen the fight or flight sub conscious). It's pricey, I'm getting it end of the month, I'll let you know--and of course because its designed to help, its not covered under insurance OTC. I'll let you know and no I can't take naps as they make me serial killer grumpy. I'll let you know.... Michele
I take two Benadryl a half hour before bedtime. Puts me to sleep. My doctor said it was ok. Take that afternoon nap, I do! You deserve it…. Give it a try.
Before being diagnosed with leukemia (CLL) I had a sleep issue. I had sleep apnea, used a CPAP machine and had insomnia. If I actually did get sleepy and was at home, I slept. Then I couldn’t sleep at night. I was tired all the time.
I finally went to a sleep doctor. Her first recommendation was to take control of my sleep schedule. She had me decide what times to use to go to bed and to get up. For a couple of weeks I fought to stay awake in the daytime, then lay in bed wide awake. But finally my body surrendered to my control over my sleep schedule and now, several years later, I only have occasional nights of insomnia.
If there is a sleep doctor in your area, make an appointment and get started working on solving your sleep problems. I hope you are able to solve your sleep problems.
